Extra Sleeping Space
When having sleepover guests, a leather sofa bed is a great option. Today’s sofa beds are functional, come in many designs and are comfortable to sit and sleep on.
Most sofa beds are available in full or queen size. Depending on your space, choose the size which fits your needs. Queen sofa sleepers usually come with 3 seat cushions while full size sofa beds usually have 2 oversized seat cushions.
There are several different sofa bed mechanisms available in the market place. The standard bi-fold mechanism is easy to operate (open and close). It requires you to remove the seat and back cushions before opening. However some newer engineered European mechanisms do not require you to remove the seat and back cushions when opening and closing the sofa bed. This might be very advantageous in smaller spaces.
All sofa beds have restrictions on the thickness of the mattress. Most sofa bed mattresses range between 3 and 6 inches of thickness. Some mattresses are offered with innerspring coils or others are just high density foam.
Sofa beds are comfortable to sit on
In the past sofa beds were not comfortable to use as a sofa. This is no longer true, with newer and better engineered mechanisms, sofa beds today are as comfortable to sit on as to sleep on. Many sofa bed designs also have matching optional love seats and chairs.
